This and That

Ted Kennedy
Like most Americans I was saddened to hear that Ted Kennedy has a brain tumor. Whether or not you agree with his politics no one would wish this on anyone.
I saw and heard Ted Kennedy speak live at the Woodman Park School in Dover, New Hampshire in 1966. At the time I was a twenty-one year old who had been inspired by Ted's older brother, the late President John F. Kennedy.
I pray for him during his time of need. Our great God is still in the miracle business!

Stella Bowen
I took part today in the memorial service of a former parishioner of mine, Stella Bowen. Stella was born on July 5, 1910 and died at the age of ninety-seven on April 29, 2008. She was a dear Christian prayer warrior who lived a remarkable life. Although Stella outlived most of her friends and relatives she left a legacy of love and joy with the many people attending her service.
She lived through World War I, World War II, the Korean War, the Viet Nam War, and all the recent wars since then. She lived through the start of communism in 1917 and saw its demise in 1989. She saw the Berlin Wall erected and torn down. She truly lived through an exciting time in history.
I thank God for bringing Stella into my life for six years.
